Blade Magazine, Baker Mascot, & Specialty Auctions! TFN

Happy December, Gang!

It was a collective deep breath to start the week following our massive weeks-long Black Friday sale. Returning to some normalcy after promoting discounts and deals and getting back into the swing of things around HQ.

With Sam out of town on a little vacation time our CFO Bruce and CEO, Coy have been handling the bulk of packing & shipping, ensuring (as always) that ya’ll get your packages as early and conveniently as possible even if that means some executive meetings from the shipping room!

With fulfillment of those last minute, late-weekend orders in the works, the shop guys launched into a BIG schedule prepared for them following the short week. With a range of custom orders and a retail schedule to keep up, we’ve had a consistent “bang-bang-bang” coming from the Chambersburg most of the week– a sign of productive things!

Earlier this week Blade Magazine posted an article from their latest edition titled: “DAMASCUS: WHAT ARE THE HOT PATTERNS AND STEELS IN 2026”. With contributions from our fearless leader, Coy and photo shout-outs to two of our favorite Maker’s in the industry, Hans Molenkamp of Crimson Knife Co and Jake McCoy of McCoy Bladeworks. If you didn’t see our post on socials sending fans that direction read the article here!

As we head into gift-giving season we’re running some reminders to those who are Maker-adjacent, i.e. Wives, girlfriends, and kids of knifemakers, bladesmiths and crafty folks who love our materials. We offer an online giftcard that can be used on anything from drop steel to Gator Piss products! Additionally we have plenty of sick apparel and swag to choose from on the site! Gift the Knifemaker in your life their next big project with a few bucks on Baker!

Find our gift cards here, and our swag (including the new “Get Pissed” & “American Steel” t-shirts debuted at Blade Show ATL this year) here!

Inside the Media

Our sale period gave the media team PLENTY to work on promoting and notifying ya’ll about all the wild deals Coy debuted for the season. Things sold well and ya’ll engaged with our content, allowing us to keep the momentum rolling for almost TWO full weeks. All that said, we did miss our normal fun & casual media while most of the entertaining content was on the shelf for simpler weeks. Now back in the normal flow of things we threw together a few fun posts throughout the week before stepping into something new in place of the weekend’s drop. On Monday we posted our usual Monday Question for our audience, asking folks: “What’s the FUNNIEST comment a customer has ever made regarding your work?” And received some pretty iconic answers. As is common to the platform, we had a couple salty comments over on Facebook about stirring up bad blood with customers and such. I’m sure ya’ll know we’re never trying to lose anyone customers, just thought this would be a fun place to discuss some of the more audacious things we all hear from the wayward fan of the industry. Hell let’s not even call them “customers” we all know most of these comments came from the wandering shopper more than the consistent customer!

Tuesday’s forge reel adopted the energy of a pretty hard-hitting production week that Jay and the guys kicked off. Maybe a more casual type of reel for our long-time followers but there’s still something about a good-vibes smash-reel to start the week off right.

Later in the week we tossed out a question to the staff– If you had to choose, who/what are you making the Baker Forge mascot? Although our staff stayed on-brand to their individual interests the comments on this one are where the laughs are hidden. Somewhere between our CEO Coy and the acid-guzzling Gator from our now-iconic Gator Piss line seems to be where ya’ll are settled. We’ll take it, either would make a stellar mascot!

Sneak Peek 👀

With quite the lineup of retail drops already primed up, Coy surprised us this week with a new concept to debut in place of a normal drop– the launch of a brand new feature on the Baker website, Specialty Auctions! Built as a mainstay shop page where customers can bid on various unique small batches, collaborative one-offs or test pieces gone RIGHT, this page is already host to a handful of wild and exciting products. We do a lot of experimenting around Baker and with that comes plenty of blems but also enough successes to toss out some pieces from time to time. In place of this weekend’s retail drop we’ve loaded the page with all sorts of weird and unique one-offs from around the HQ and we’re giving customers till this Sunday 8pm est to get their bids in. You WILL NOT want to miss these offerings, and who knows you might just score something never-before-seen at a HUGE reduction off what we would charge retail! Folks on our social media have known about these since yesterday– check out what’s available and place your bids here
