Spring demand for materials has certainly hit a relative high this week. Jay had the manufacturing team firing on all cylinders ahead of this weekend’s Blade Show: Texas. There’s nothing quite like wrapping up a long list of custom orders before taking off for a weekend of fun with all our favorite folks.

We’ve been on a warming trend the last couple of weeks, but no complaints here. The random 70 degrees and sunny days are a welcome sensation after what has been a respectable Appalachian winter in our little holler.

Happy Friday Makers! It was a slightly unusual week for our marketing as we opted to push the drop schedule one week in an effort to afford the manufacturing team some “catch-up” time. Since we dropped the Core Line last month ya’ll have had us swamped with orders.

Our work-week kicked off with a BIG batch of Damascus, Coppermascus, and Stainless end-cut boxes being added to BakerForge.com. Jay offered the marketing team dibs on when/where to announce the release before accidentally making them available and prompting an automatic push notification to app-users. Last weekend we attempted to drop Inferno Go-Core in Ladder after some massive hype through the week. In a startling turn of events, however, our App and Website experienced a glitch that led to customers being unable to complete orders. Well, we were promised a storm of some significance and when we got up Monday for work we were not disappointed. Although the snow levels were over estimated, the late news it might be more of an ice-storm proved true.

Ah, it’s good to be back! The time away for the holidays was restful, but there’s something to be said for a company you truly look forward to returning to work with. Even after the extended time off, it seemed like the staff had an excited and thankful vibe walking back into work on Monday. With the Christmas holiday behind us, it’s time to put our heads down and get some real work done, as I imagine many of you are.

Happy (late) Thanksgiving, Makers!The last two weeks of Black Friday craziness had us in a full daze. The funniest thing about these promotions is all that filming, marketing, and order-packing still takes place adjacent to the regular custom and retail production of steel that Jay and the team embark on each and every work week. Safe to say every single employee was running at full-steam pretty much all week last week, and again to start off the short holiday week. 

Happy Friday, folks! It’s been a cooler week around Baker HQ as the temps around our little Appalachian community dip into the 20s for the first time this season. Jay even kicked on the shop heater a few times this week while the forges weren’t in use– surely a sign of the cold for this group of hardworking mountain blacksmiths.

Another October week is in the books. It certainly seems like the summer lull is officially over. All week Baker HQ was alive with the bustling of custom orders and production in full motion.
