Happy Independence Day, Makers!

At Baker Forge, we pour our hearts into crafting our Damascus and laminated steels right here in Boone, NC, fueled by a deep pride in being American manufacturers. This great nation inspires us every day, and we’re honored to carry forward the tradition of quality & grit that defines the USA. As we gear up for this week’s blog, I’m excited to share the latest from the HQ—let’s dive in!

We started the week with some heavy rain, both reducing the temps slightly and increasing the humidity by a TON. Regardless, we were thankful for the cloudy start to our forging week. Unfortunately as the rebuild from Helene continues our roads are experiencing massive continued flooding each time we receive heavy rain. The Appalachias aren’t out of the woods yet, but we are abundantly thankful for the work local road crews are putting in to finally return our area to some sense of normalcy. 

Waylon caught the shop guys in the middle of a massive twist damascus build on Monday. Although we can’t say much about Shop Lead Jay's drop schedule, we got a feeling you may be seeing this one sometime soon. In the meantime, stay tuned for some footage of the twist next week….

Coy finally wrapped up the months-long project of constructing a proper resting place for

our new Chambersburg hammer. Now with a perfectly assembled foundation and anvil we’ll soon stand up this beast and get it into action. In addition, we placed & wired-in our new 50HP Screw Compressor to support the Chambersburg. So much follows once this new machine is up and operational, ya’ll stay tuned as we push it into high-gear following the mid-summer holiday. After a hugely successful initial drop at Blade Show and a followup website drop of our new Nano-Ceramic Coating Gator Skin we had to take a few weeks to build up more inventory and prepare to offer it more consistently. While we’re still a few weeks from the type of stock that will keep Gator Skin available on the site more permanently, we will have a load of Skin ready & available once again very soon. If you’re holding out, this will be the place to find out when it drops. In addition to the Gator SKin restock, we went ahead an

d attacked another production run of Gator Piss, returning stock on the site to consistent levels and fulfilling an order from our newest Gator Piss distributor Pop’s Knife Supply. Many of you are likely familiar with Pop’s and we are thrilled to add them to our list of well-known distributors!

As a last piece of news, Baker CEO Coy's wife Hunter is expecting their third child any moment now. For a week where Coy was constantly “on-call” for a potential birth, he somehow accomplished some huge tasks around the HQ. Regardless, as we head into the weekend our thoughts & prayers are with hunter & Coy and their family as they await this exciting addition. The Baker clan GROWS!

Inside the Media

Having dropped FireStorm within the last few months, Waylon and I avoided the usual weekly challenge of receiving, photographing, and editing new visuals of a test blade prior to Wednesday’s drop-announcement. Instead we utilized our last round of images, prepared our drop content and dove head first into the rest of the week’s media. After a month that felt like catching up every day, it’s been a nice reprieve to have the appropriate time and energy to creatively pursue our casual media in an effort to continue to entertain our hardworking and often serious clientele. Although the results of this effort only presented themselves in the form of a pretty damn funny employee question video followed by today’s Independence Day reel, you’ll see more fruits of our labor in the week to follow!If you missed it, we asked viewers on Monday to comment with the one pivotal “thing” that would most improve their work. Answers ranged from knee-slapping ridiculousness to impassioned, well-written sentiments. It’s a perfect representation of this community and a great read if you find yourself bored over the weekend!
