We’re still a little surprised by how fast July came and went. Before long the cool autumn temperatures of the Appalachias will ease the shop climate, perhaps improving productivity & keeping us chill on those long mid-week forging sessions.

Somewhere in the busyness of the last week Waylon and Coy still managed to get a BIG Gator Skin re-stock in the works. If you’ve been holding out to grab a bottle of our new Nano-Ceramic coatings, stay tuned or click “Notify me when available” on the listing here to receive an email the moment new Gator Skin goes live.
This weekend’s layout is ANOTHER brand new one for us. Despite the extra summer workload, Coy and Jay have been pumping out never-before-seen layouts more and more recently. Taking us back to our roots in innovation and inspiring some of our classic Makers to grab a bar of something new & exciting! We’re stoked to see how this new take on the RipTide series goes over, so be sure to tag us with your creations.
With the weekend layout already produced and ready for drop, Coy and the shop team
turned their attention to the Chambersburg Power Hammer. Having been sitting in the middle of Baker HQ for almost a year now, it’s finally time to raise this behemoth and place it on the meticulously prepared (more than 11ft deep) foundation. No easy task, it took all day Wednesday to raise the beast, even with the help of our local tow company and their absolute LARGEST lift available. Despite some tight fits and butthole-clentching moments the beast has landed and BOY is she big when upright. Now, Coy and the team will turn their attention toward connecting the hammer to our air tanks and compressor to get it powered up. The sheer amount of development this machine brings to our operation is more than I could explain here. Be prepared for more new & exciting developments as we finally get this thing operational!

In addition to the Landing of the Chambersburg, we also received a new custom furnace we had built for our new stainless production. Perhaps an early tease for the “When will you be releasing more Stainless” crowd, this furnace brings us a whole lot closer to releasing stainless with more consistency (as does the Chambersburg). Stay tuned as we get the furnace installed & rolling!

Inside the Media
Every now and then when Baker HQ hits full-capacity Coy calls Waylon up for a few tasks to keep production moving. This week he’s been bouncing between typical media work, assisting with the Chambersburg install, and labeling new Gator Skin boxes. Despite all of this, he’s still over-performing with lots of content out a week that bore plenty of momentous accomplishments. With a YouTube video detailing the install and challenges of the Chambersburg in the works, Waylon also sent over an extra set of behind-the-scenes photos of the week, staying out of the way of an early-in-the-week forging session that we posted Wednesday afternoon.
With Waylon in the weeds with extra responsibilities I’m setting up the next few weeks of media, planning various themes and considering annual social media promotions like the “Steel Showdown”. Now nearing the date when we announced and launched this competition in 2024, it’s time to begin the production on this year’s Showdown. New layouts must be considered for contention and a new Introduction to the competition must be filmed. Rest assured we are going to put in all the work to make this year’s Showdown provide all the excitement and engagement of 2024’s but with new elements and surprises along the way. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we gauge the popularity of several up-and-coming layouts and determine our 2025 Steel Showdown lineup!

Sneak Peek 👀
This weekend, we’re thrilled to debut IronTide in Ripple pattern, a new chapter in our RipTide saga that Coy’s buzzing about. Featuring salvaged wrought iron cladding—sourced from antique wagon wheels via Charlie Bridges at Broken Anvil Knife Works—this layout brings a classic, textured tree-bark look paired with nickel, copper, and 1084 shims over a 100-layer Damascus core. A fan-favorite material meets our signature craftsmanship in this vibrant Ripple pattern, with a big batch of flat, Blanchard-ground sizes ready for your projects. Recent drops have flown off the Baker Forge App, so hit it Friday at noon EST for first pick, or join the full release Saturday at 8pm EST.
