Happy Friday, Makers!

Another October week is in the books. It certainly seems like the summer lull is officially over. All week Baker HQ was alive with the bustling of custom orders and production in full motion. Whether it’s our custom Maker’s or larger bulk orders to the production knife makers both seem to be gearing up for the holiday season right on schedule!

Many of you are likely headed the direction of either Blade Show West in Salt Lake City or the Maker’s Camp up in New York this weekend. We’re bummed we can't join you but thankful to see these events continue and sending our stoked & support from afar! If you’re in the area of either and this is the first time you’re hearing of it, get out there and support all your regional Makers! There are some really really talented folks we KNOW will be at BOTH! With our power hammer saga finally behind us and the Chambersburg active and ready to roll our stainless damascus production has been in full swing. Coy’s been dropping hints at an upcoming drop, but until he gives us the word you’ll have to settle for those vague mid-week story-uploads teasing the ever elusive Baker Forge stainless. Trust us, it’s coming…

Working with so many large, older machines, we’re always on the lookout for small signs that these critical parts of the manufacturing process need maintenance. There can be funny downsides, though. On Wednesday, the team noticed an irregularity with the magnetic table that secures steel during the Blanchard grinding process. In a last-minute panic, we began disassembling the Blanchard to remove the table and check for issues. We left the rest of the fix for Thursday morning, and when we returned with clearer heads, we discovered we had been testing with non-magnetic steel. In the end, nothing was wrong with the Blanchard, but it was another great opportunity to take some big equipment apart and clean it out!

Yesterday we had the honor of posting the first official reveal of a truly breathtaking collaborative sword build from Gator Piss co-creator, Grey Blades. A marvel of the

brotherhood and support of this community, Greyson’s IMMACULATE 30” Wadao blade was made from one of the boldest plug damascus bars our founder, Coy has ever made. Adorned with 8 individually unique plugs, our small part in this overwhelmingly unique build was quite the honor. Moving past the blade, Greyson collaborated with Keeling Customs on the 24k gold inlay Habaki, added Ivorite Micarta from Hawksnest Customs, a mammoth tusk spacer from Ice Age Crafts, and last but certainly not least, a feather mosaic ring pommel made by Broken Anvil Knifeworks. Our video showcasing this piece was taken by on-staff videographer and resident media guy, Waylon and serves as a poignant reminder of the skill he brings to Baker Forge Studios. Check out the video on YouTube here.

Amidst the craziness of the last two weeks we almost forgot to mention the success of our Grime Reaper launch! So many of you jumped at the chance to try our newest product and we are thrilled to hear what you think! Coy put together quite the initial stock for this drop, so some cans are still left (surprisingly). I’ll only say it here; if you haven’t grabbed your can, there is still time left. Find it on the site here!

As we forge forward through these next few weeks of October let me remind you that this is your chance to jump on our end-cut bundles/boxes as well as our weekend drops as a means to stock up on your Baker materials. Bundles have been dropping semi regularly and often sell out in moments, so be sure to download the Baker app to be notified the second they hit the site. Just like ya’ll we plan to bust hell between now and Christmas (and more likely beyond) to try to fulfill the holiday demands and we love to see those seasonal custom orders headed to their final homes in our materials. Stay tuned for MANY exciting upcoming drops!

Inside the Media

Ever since Chambersburg was added to the active production line Waylon has been HUSTLING a longform video chronicling the more than a year of crazy events, crisis, and resolve that led us to finally getting that beast going. An initial delay from the effects of Hurricane Helene was only the beginning, and when Chris Cash left Waylon was reminded of the massive editing undertaking he was in for. Alas this YouTube video will serve as an excellent, longstanding example of what we go through to bring back these older machines and create our product. Not only will this video cover all of the exciting details of Chambersburg but also the many folks who helped us get her going and the challenges we faced along the way. Set to drop late this week or early next, we look forward to taking in this final piece of Chambersburg themed media with you all! That longform project meant Waylon needed to lock in and avoid other distractions during the LONG editing process so he attacked the week’s media with never-before-seen tenacity. By 4pm on Monday nearly all the week's media was complete and ready to be scheduled or posted. Truly an example of what our team can accomplish in a pinch, I was really proud of the hustle this week and additionally proud of the fun & engaging content we got out there during such a balls-to-the-wall week!
